Hit ‘Em With Style!

Things are about to heat up in frosty Green Bay as rookie Dez Moses, newly signed by the Packers at linebacker, gets the lowdown on sartorial style at our Studio recently.

Selecting a fabric which showed his obvious great taste, we expect to have Dez showing up pretty soon, looking like a leading candidate for GQ style honors; which is a whole lot different from how his opponents will get to see him up close and really personal on the field!

With the 32nd pick of the first round, the NY Giants selected running back from Virginia Tech, David Wilson. Now, the sharpest dressed draft pick gets to call NY home and of course, since he loves his suits, he’s gonna be in J Lucas all the way!

Congrats David, we always knew you were a winner and a class act too!

Typical to the 1920’s, the suits of the era were classic in silhouette but for certain personalities, colors and detailing were exaggerated to create an almost dandyish style. Today, certain elements of that time (wide lapels, collar bars etc) are slowly finding their way back into the sartorial landscape. Probably the best example of the 20’s look can be seen in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and its main character, Nucky Thompson see here.

We’ll have quite a bit more to say about this in upcoming posts…

Recently we were happy to be invited by Andrew Payne (founder of tie company General Knot) and the good folks at OUTFLUENCED to be a part of a short piece about the GK brand. Shot on location in New York City and partially shot at the J Lucas Studio, Andrew discusses his love for fabrics (a love we share incidentally!) and his passion that led him to start the company and make the very unique ties they produce. Take a look; we think you’ll like it.

[PS- You’ll see Neil Machlovitz, owner of J Lucas at 0:21]

Made for one of our favorite clients, this jacket turned out beautifully. While it’s a Super 130’s wool, it has a light hand and it’s perfect for these early, warm Spring days.

A variation on the wider peaked lapel, we offered our client this width to create little more visual interest to the jacket. We’re glad he likes it!

It’s Spring here on the East coast and it’s time for you to switch up your wardrobe choices.. Sometimes, even the most elegant suit can be broken down to a more rakish, contemporary look. Here, our favorite nightlife impresario Frank Debourge shows how..
